Trying Gary David Wright's Hi Fire Red Clay

I think the red colors are so special. But I am not very advanced at mixing clay bodies so I have a few questions. one recipe he says is better for handbuilding:

D/W Red Body

Neuman 40

Redart 30

Fireclay 20

ballclay 10

100%

Bentonite 2%

fine grog 5%

barium carb 1%

 

is fireclay just a high alumina powdered clay in this case? can I use molochite for the grog? here in Portugal we have nasty grogs that are very sharp feeling even

if graded to 0.2. Has anyone tried mixing something like this?
