evy
Does anyone have any ideas on what to add to bisqued ware to get some cool effects for final firing. I have 12 bowls to do and besides using toothpaste, lipstick, and soap on all of them, was wondering if there is something else I'm not seeing. Final firing will be at cone 10. Marcia Selsor
I guess it would depend on what type of ^10 firing..soda, wood, reduction? Are you planning to cover with a glaze? Marcia

Marcia Selsor
atmospheric like soda or wood? I am not sure all those you mention will respond or survive at ^10. What does lipstick do at ^10? My friend uses it in saggar firings and I can understand some of those things you mentions working at a low temp.<div>For high temperature, if you are using a gas kiln that is ok. Be careful not to damage electric elements if you are firing in an electric kiln. Fumes from combustibles can damage elements.</div><div><br></div><div>I can think of Miracle-gro doing something in a firing because of all the copper. Soda ash, salt, are obvious. I have brushed on salt in a wash. </div><div>Marcia</div>
Shalom Dunn
I personally like mixing red Iron Oxide with water to make a stain gives the clay a nice warn red rust hue to it. Say about a table spoon to a cup of water and then just mix and brush onto it
