CPT
Hi: Just purchased a pint of brilliant red glaze. I opened it and it was chunky/cakey. Any suggestions on how to soften it? I have put in some water and shaken it up a bit, but doesn't seem to help. Thanks!

CPT
I actually added water to it and dumped it an old blender and blitzed it. It worked! It now has a smoother consistency. Thanks for the tip.
Jacqueline
Hi: Just purchased a pint of brilliant red glaze. I opened it and it was chunky/cakey. Any suggestions on how to soften it? I have put in some water and shaken it up a bit, but doesn't seem to help. Thanks! I had the same thing happen just this week to a bright red glaze I wanted to use. I called the ceramic store (they mixed the glaze), they said it was the lithium in the glaze that hardens when the glaze gets cold. You need to store it at room temperature. Just heat the glaze to dissolve the crunchy lithium. It isn't practical for me to heat the studio all the time, or reheat the glaze, so it is going back.
