Tyler Miller
I've been looking to expand my library and I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for books on sculpting and sculpture in clay.
Denice
I don't know if this is the type of sculpture you are wanting to do but I have two favorite books on figurative sculpture. Both are written by Bruno Lucchesi, have great photos and instructions. The first one I bought is called Terracotta it starts you out with materials and building a armature and then takes you through the whole figure. The second one was Modeling the Figure in Clay, I would buy it first. This book has you build a body on a armature starting with the bones, layering muscles, fat then skin. I really enjoyed this process and it came out surprisingly well, I was little dubious that I could pull it off. I had done portraiture sculpture for years but never starting with the bones. Tyler Miller
Thanks for the recommendations, Denice! I love the idea of building up a sculpture from bone.
