  1. I volunteer in an art studio where all bisque ware is fired at cone 5.  Is this ok for the stoneware I use which does get final fired at cone 6?

Hi Denise.  You know I've been making for almost 20 years but always in someone else's studio like Craft alliance or Kruegers in St. Louis or the night school  studio and I've never actually fired a kiln or known or asked what the firing temp is.  At Krueger studio our work always went on shelves marked 5/6.  In craft alliance I never knew and the small art studio where I currently volunteer someone else sets the kilns.  It's not that I'm lazy, but I fell in love with making, never had a kiln, and forgot about the other end of the business. I need to pay attention to low and high fire methods and now that I've said all this,  what is the difference between .05 and 5 .
