I had to go back to the Jordan Dam landing to get more clay. The last time I mixed not so good clay with good clay, and this time I only wanted all good clay. I normally soak the clay for 20 minutes, then allow it to age...for another 20 minutes before adding sand, and start making pottery. This clay is dry and is hard as a rock, if the clay is soft/wet, it will appear like Gray Crisco!!! All new clay sources are tested first by making clay beads and pinched when dry and after they're fired. They shouldn't crush easily. Pottery can be fired between the first day they are made and whenever! . Oh, on my way there I stopped to pick up a rock, and turned out to be a quartz spear point. I thought it was Paleo but when I took it by the archaeologist's house on my way home, it turned out to be a mid-archaic atlatl point. only 5000 to 6000 yrs old.
