About Me

“Within the boundaries of my abilities, I strive to create pleasing shapes that allow me to explore the endless possibilities of post firing reduction (raku). Observation of our environment is critical, organic and man made shapes can be translated through various wheel thrown shapes. Surface texture is another technique I use to define and enhance my works. I want my vessels to evoke a response visually and tactilely-- whether you are pleased or offended, puzzled or tickled -- any response is better than no response. Post firing reduction (raku) is a technique that allows me to suggest what I have envisioned for the finished piece, apply all that I have learned and pray that the piece is visually exciting. Nothing is perfect in the eyes of an artist, but it is the best that can be done with the today’s ability – just wait until tomorrow.”
