Hobby Potter
I got a nice mug from a "mug swap", I put water in it and had left it on the counter for a couple days. When I came back to it, it had a white crystalized powder substance all over it. So I rinsed and washed it, then thought I'd see if it happened again...yep! Anyone know what this could be? Lucille Oka
Is the cup with or without a glaze? Are you in a hard water location? It could be calcium/mineral deposits. Clean the cup completely scour off any sediment, wipe it dry, do not let it air dry. Have the crystals re-appeared? Fill the cup with distilled water and see if you get the crystalized powder again. Can you let us know what you have observed?
