Petuntse/pottery Stone

Hi,

I am doing a research project for school about porcelain and I need more info about the petuntse/pottery stone component of glazes and hard-paste porcelain bodies. Specifically, I need more info about chinese petuntse or its equivalent.

I understand that pottery stone is a granitic, feldspathic rock and that the best petuntse rock is slightly greenish or spotted with green. I understand that petuntse is used in both the glaze and the hard-paste body.

I was wondering if someone could elaborate on and expand this info. If I was to ask a potter to make a dish for me, and he/she was to ask me what type of petuntse I want him/her to use in the glaze and the body, what would I say? What options do I have?

Hope all that makes sense. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan
