I have been in ceramics for 30+ years, but i am new to hand building. I find instructions refering to " soft slabs". Can some one define it for me?

I just came home with 275 pounds of wonderful clay. I need to learn how to convert it to 'soft slabs'.

Thank you, TheLilyLady

Soft slabs ... to me this means working with them as soon as they can stand up supported by something else!
Working this way gives your work motion and liveliness ... you are always on the verge of failure.
I work with soft slabs and really enjoy the challenge.
