susan barbehenn seaver
The Community Clay Studio of Ithaca, a group of ceramic artists - some from the former Cornell University Ceramic Studio and other interested artists, are hosting their second fundraising event at the Community School of Music & Arts (CSMA), Ithaca, NY on Gallery Night, May 3rd, between 5-8pm. The event will offer ceramic and fine art for sale along with demonstrations in wheel throwing and handbuilding by members. It will also feature a raffle with donations from the business community and ceramic artists. The event is designed to raise funds and awareness in the community about the ongoing attempt to create a new community clay studio in Ithaca. The Community Clay Studio of Ithaca and CSMA are working with the architectural firm, John Snyder Architects of Ithaca, currently conducting a feasibility study of an underutilized basement space at CSMA. The study is assessing the viability of the space to house a ceramic studio and all the necessary needs and requirements. The first fundraiser, Gallery Night March 1st, raised enough funds to begin the feasibility study. The initial success in raising funds is entirely due to the support of the community, donations by artists and wineries, and the dedicated members heading up the Community Clay Studio of Ithaca. If you would like to donate your ceramics (seconds or otherwise) please send them to: Community School of Music & Arts c/o Community Clay Studio of Ithaca 215 East State Street Ithaca, NY 14850 Please include your contact information and a suggested price for your work. Many Thanks. You can also follow us on Facebook: Community Clay Studio ofIthaca
