Guest JBaymore
There is No Time Like the Present: A call for Nominations By David McBeth, Past President an exerpt from the November 2012 Potters’ Pages Newsletter Have you ever challenged the decisions or actions of your Potters Council Board? Did you think, even for a moment that you could do a better job than that bunch of oafs? There is no time like the present. Now is your big chance to demonstrate just how right you were. The Board of Directors is gathering names to consider for nomination for two general board positions and the President-Elect position. We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic potters willing to serve the Potters Council membership, and to assist in moving the organization forward. In addition to my work on this Board, I am also the President of the Board of a 160-member arts organization in Maine. Just like that group, the Potters Council relies on active members to make things happen. As a Board member you would have the opportunity to Chair important committees designed to improve the lives and livelihoods of potters just like you. You will also be asked to participate on other committees as your skills and interests lead you. See the current list of Potters Council Board Members In what directions would you like to see the Potters Council move? How would you like your life as a potter improved or strengthened? These are the kinds of questions the Potters Council Board deals with, this is your opportunity to help make positive change in the future of the Potters Council. If you are uncomfortable nominating yourself (and you should NOT be), maybe you know another member of the Potters Council who you believe would be a strong asset to the organization. Either nominate that person or invite them to nominate themselves. The Nominating Committee will thoroughly check through every nomination to ascertain proper fit on the Board, and then the general Board will put together a full slate of candidates for the members to vote on. Your vote does count in both national and Potters Council elections. Please email your nominations for Potters Council Board positions to me, dmcbethme@gmail.com by December 10, 2012. Put Potters Council Board Nomination in the email subject.
