  1. 1. Do you accept returns?

Recommended Posts

I want my customers to feel confident when purchasing from me, so I've decided to accept returns for a limited time from the purchase date.

I have never sold any handmade work before. Some other people suggested I make all sales final. What do you think?

You have to guarantee your work or you lose the whole impulse factor.

I accept returns and also guarantee my work 100%, no questions asked.

Items must be returned within 14 days, packed with care so as to arrive undamaged.

Refunds are sent AFTER product is received and examined.

If they want you to send replacements, a "re-stocking fee" should be charged.

These transactions should be handled on two different invoices.

One credits the return and the other is a new invoice for the sale.

I cannot remember the last time anyone returned anything, but shoppers really like to know they can.

I accept returns too. In 10 years of selling pots, I've only had one thing exchanged, and she had a logical reason.

But even though it's rare, I think it's a good policy. It shows you have confidence in your work. If I was considering buying a pot with a "no returns" policy, I would wonder why.

Guaranteeing your work is great for your karma. One of my popular items has a part that is small/delicate, and on two occasions customers have told me they dropped and cracked the part. I promptly handed over a new one saying "on the house." One of them gave me back a big plate full of brownies ... yum! So just think of the good will that is generated by such behavior, represented by a big plate of brownies.

Seriously though, even if you don't believe in karma, you should always be mindful of your reputation. For any small business, it matters!
