blenore
My slip is shivering off of the fired pieces after glazing. Can I add something to get a better fit?

Matt Katz
you need to substitute in roughly 10% calcined clay (Glomax) in for part of the kaolin. Your slip shrinks more than the body, so it shivers off. Calcined clay has been fired already so it doesn't shrinkage. By substituting it for part of the kaolin in the formula, you reduce the shrinkage of the slip.
