Orange glaze cone 6

>46.7 Potash

>4 Kaolin

>2 Bentonite

>15 Bone ash

>4 LIthium Carb.

>16.9 Talc

>11.4 Silica

>10 RIO

Gloss surface glaze that covered well. Nodiscernable difference where dipped twice. It is a rich, medium brown with very vivid orange streaking throughout. Surface is fluid but not runny. The orangesare very bright.

Variation: added 10 Ochre

Same base color, but no orange streaking. Insteadthe glaze has a creamy yellow cast where thickest.

Anybody have a good recipe for a nice orange glaze that doesn't use stains?

I have a cone 6 high alumina matt orange tile and recipe on my web site at:

http://www.shambhalapottery.com

Just hit the technical link for potters and follow the links. There are several pages of test tiles photos for cone 6ox as well as cone 10 R and soda/salt tests.

June, I have used a glaze called June Perry Peach for some time and love it. It seems to be your Calcium Eutectic 7473V3 base with 2% Rutile and 4% Tin. (I don't know where I got that originally.) It's such a nice surface on my porcelain. I will try some of your other color combinations and see if that will do the trick. Thanks.

Pixie,

This is the same recipe that appears in the Bailey book, and I've tried it several times with no success. I just get a muddy brown with no orange at all. I've tried different firing schedules but had no luck. Have you used this glaze? If so, what is your secret?

Thanks,

Sylvia
