A Few Ideas For Teachers Of Pottery And Ceramics (Or: What Would Voulkos Do?)

Recommended Posts

Here's another blog entry from Carter Gillie on ideas for teachers of pottery and ceramics.  Many of us have taught or currently teach at the elementary/high school levels, in community studios, or college/university level.  I especially like the idea of a class in Copying the Masters.

Excellent article!

I teach at community college level and emphasis is usually on techniques as most students want the piece to 'work' in practical terms. This means that I sometimes 'forget' to draw attention to the broader, richer aspects of the clay 'art' medium.

A 'Copying the Masters' class, a long and well respected tradition in painting, will now be scheduled for mid-term.

Thanks bciskepottery for the link.
