Amelia
A potter neighbor who retired gave me these ware carts (score!) and I am wondering what folks use to cover when throwing for a slow dry? I previously used narrow ware boards on wire racks, and would cover each board with split open trash bags. If you have similar carts, what’s your system? Ideally I’d love a cover that went over the whole thing, but I can’t find one online. I’ll use one for throwing and one for greenware/bisque
Rae Reich
If your shelves are wood, they might not like being in a damp atmosphere. i made a cover for rolling shelves with a silver tarp, folded like wrapping a package on the top, and secured top and sides with clamps. Not entirely tight but it slows drying. Rudimentary hand sewing skills and a big needle with heavy thread could customize and make a tighter cover. Callie Beller Diesel
You could probably customize a cover with some vapour barrier and duct tape, if you ‘ve got any kicking around. dhPotter and Rae Reich
Amelia
@Rae Reich thanks! I’m planning on switching the wood shelves to hardibacker pieces. Will try to diy a cover. Appreciate the ideas! Rae Reich

JohnnyK
If you want to spend some $$$, You can go to www.coverstore.com and use code DE7UM4RS for a 25% discount. They have covers for all kids of items and they do custom covers, too. I got one for my golf cart. Rae Reich

I checked it out and the price for a cover for my Raku kiln was less than half for the same dimensions at the Coverstore! Hulk
,) We haven't bought from them yet; if we do, I'll follow up with a review. Sometimes, there's vendors that have great pricing. See, for example, D. Lawless Hardware for cabinet bits - hinges, pulls, etc. Rae Reich
Bette
I have a smaller Bailey cart and used plastic sheeting & installed zipwall zippers to make a cover with easy access. My purpose isn't for drying though, I use it to store pots that are ready to sell to keep them dust free so the heavy plastic works well for me, but for drying you might need a more permeable material. JohnnyK
I placed an order with Covers & All for my Raku kiln and have come to find out that it was made in India...I'll let you all know what kind of quality the cover is when I get it around the end of this month.
