HenryBurlingame
Anyone have any recommendations for pottery documentaries? I’ve been watching the goldmark gallery ones over the years, but I can only watch so many UK potters making Japanese-inspired pots in wood fired kilns before I need a change of pace lol. So maybe something more on the modern side. Edited September 4 by HenryBurlingame Min
Hulk
Ton a day Isaac Button: Isaac Button; Country Potter Pt. 1 (youtube.com) There are three more short clips; look, find. ...perhaps not so modern? ...and yet, timeless. I'd enjoyed the NHK Ceramic Treasures series. The entire catalog may no longer be available from one location; look, maybe find more. NHK Ceramic Treasures - YouTube Try searching "NHK Ceramic Treasures" from your browser. I've enjoyed the Goldmark ones as well.... The Spanish brothers who fire with local brush, I'll try to find again... Edited September 4 by Hulk +1 Min and HenryBurlingame
Clay17
I've been watching Craft in America on PBS. While it's not solely about pottery, there is a lot of ceramics in the 15 seasons that are available. I wouldn't be surprised if the episodes are available on YouTube as well. Hulk
Looking for the Spanish brothers ...oh yeah, this, have you all seen this one? "A bizarre and noble craft..." A village pottery in Andalucia (youtube.com) It's one of a short list that I return to now and then... Rae Reich
Re: Korean Ceramic Master At his show at The Muckenthaler, Fullerton, I spoke to Kim’s son about the technique for these carved, double-walled pieces and I commented on the celadon glaze. He explained that it is a clear glaze but that the natural porcelain alluvial clay of their region contains iron. What might be considered inferior in China because it’s not pure white is a benefit for the desirable celadon. He imports Chinese porcelain for pots as well and for decorating slip.
