jenni keller
I have inherited my grandmas kiln and she has a ton of cones but the boxes and some of the cones themselves have mold on them. I'm curious if they will affect the cones or if they are okay for use.
Mark C.
As long as they have not been wet-mold burns off
Min
Hi and welcome to the forum. If they are moldy because of dampness then probably not. There is a post from Orton where they compared 010 cones from 1959, 2001 and 2020, they fired the same so they concluded age doesn't matter as long as the cones were kept dry. https://www.ortonceramic.com/post/shelf-life-of-cones
jenni keller
Thank you for the information! I am afraid it is very much from water unfortunately.
