Kittisha
Hello everyone, I have a question. Can you apply low fire Mayco Crystal Clear Glaze over a piece of ceramic that's been painted with Duncan Bisq-Stain Opaque Acrylics? Thank you. Bill Kielb
Acrylics are paint and and their excerpt specifically says “Do not fire” so if you are intending to glaze over and fire this it will not work. The acrylic paint will burn off. Products such as underglaze are made specifically for when one wants to paint a design then cover with glaze and fire to finish. You could simply continue on your path and cover with a clear acrylic paint for a decorative only item. None of this would likely be suitable for food use though and also likely not waterproof as a vase, nor be appropriate for heated use etc….
