my daughter wants to see how it is done so she can use the meter thingy to test whether or not i need new elements.   they are leaning over and i do not want to be stopped when i get going this year.

What brand of kiln do you have?

OK, my daughter just finished using the multimeter and found circuit 1-2 reads 16.6.   3-4 reads 17.2    5-6 reads 16.7.    the video says it should be 12.5 per section.

looks like i need new elements?   why does it still work if this is bad?

The kiln in the video is probably not the same model as yours. They were just using it as an example. You need to know the element resistance for your specific kiln model and voltage. For an e23T the resistance should be just under 15 ohms per section, so your elements are more than 10% off, which means they should be replaced.
