eleanortroupis
The cracking is on the inside of the top part of the handle, it looks pretty surface-level, but I would love some experts opinions this is my first piece!
Callie Beller Diesel
It’s just your clay being a bit short. No, it won’t cause structural issues. Your attachments look pretty secure, and that’s usually where things go wrong in the green stage.
oldlady
nice first piece, eleanor. just a suggestion, it looks as though you are using a needle or some other sharp instrument to draw on the clay. if you use a stylus instead of the needle, the bits of clay that are left on the edges of the lines will be pushed down and aside as you work. to remove them now will mean rubbing the entire surface with something like a green scrubby pad or a great deal of careful removal of individual bits. as a first piece, it is good, after you make a number of them you might decide to make a handle that will fit the human hand a little better. How dry is your mug? Those cracks my be sorted by wiping with a sponge dipped in slip and squeezed tightly then wiped over handle. Wipe all the handlkein same manner. Or dipped in vinegar and same process. Handles can be tidied a lotafter attaching. Mmay payto spray handle prior to attaching if it has become a little too dry.
