high silica refractory brick

Recommended Posts

I have about 140   of 10 1/2" x4" x 4", tongue and groove high silica btrick which were designed to go in the floor of blast furnace.   I initially made a kiln using this brick as the outer layer and IFB as a liner.  these bricks did not hold up to the thermal shock of repeated firing.

Is there a use for these guys outside of a blast furnace?

Yes under the floor for example then two layers of bricks on top of them-same deal with chimney foundation under a few layers of brick.

Think 1st layer than two on top of layers.
