BrianStubblefieldJr
So i am teaching a pottery class this summer. I want the kids to make little squares out of clay for me to put their pieces on when they are being fired. Can you bisque clay multiple times? blackthorn
Sure, as long as they have no glaze on them. But if I read you correctly these little squares are for pre-bisque pieces, right? Seems altogether unnecessary for bisque. Can you describe why you feel the need for the protection? There is a limit to the number of refires, after which they will begin to degrade the strength of the ware but it doesn't sound like you would come anywhere near approaching that. There are a good number of articles on multi-firing but all that I've read are glaze fires. Hope that helps.
oldlady
brian, it sounds as though you are making "cookies". try that search term on the first page of the forum and see what people say about them.
Chilly
@BrianStubblefieldJr Are you making the cookies to help identify each child's piece? Or as suggested above, to protect your kiln shelves?

Eventually after enough refires they will weaken.
