Do you have a suggestion for a message about clay for a t-shirt or a bumper sticker? | April 8, 2012

CHANGE THE RED STOP SIGN COLOUR TO GREEN AND WRITE POTS ACROSS IT. THAT WOULD BE BRILLIANT LIKE JOHN SAYS.

oops! Caps lock on again. Sorry. I wasn't really yelling.

TJR.

I like a stop sign logo with "stop" spelled backwards.

Thanks, John, until now, I'm the only one who ever thought a suggestion of mine was brilliant.

TJR... I think it works better keeping the logo red. I get your point, but red make the logo more obvious and you do want people to stop for the pots.

"BUY LOCAL" is not always a good thing.

What happens if there is a shop near me that sells some very nice Mexican pots made by poor Mexicans in a village who struggle to make a decent living?

Example: "The Renaissance of Mata Ortiz", a film of how an anthropologist sold mexican pots in America and thereby transformed a whole village.

It is not just the local artist or craftsman that deserves support, there are potters in far-away places who are often even in more need of support.

Sometimes the "Buy Local" campaign in many countries is driven by patriotism and is a form of protectionism,

not necessarily good for pottery/art in general or the local artists themselves.
