stod
After bisque fire, the base of my plates are still flat but after 1280* fire (with glaze) the bases all rise up as if someone pushed up under the centre of the plate. Using stoneware clay, and suitable glaze. This has happened a few times now. Any tips?

shawnhar
Bill Van Gilder talked about this in one of his videos, said the foot ring acts as a fulcrum, pulls the rim down and the base up. He makes the base slightly concave to compensate.
