Tips for writing on pots with iron oxide

For a long time I've been using a drafting pin and an iron oxide solution to write on the bottom of my pots. My results have been very inconsistent. Yesterday,. I figured out that if I made a solution of 50% bentonite and 50% iron oxide, it flowed much more evenly and wrote far clearer

IO has been pretty consistant when I use it to brush/decorate. It's Cobalt Oxide that's been a real pain to keep consistent for me.

I sinks to the bottom in a cake under the water. I don't remember CO being so hard to work with/ Maybe the bentonite would help...
