Acrylic paint not adhering to your ceramic bisque?

Recommended Posts

Ever painted some ceramic bisque and had the paint have spots of lighter color? Or even spots where paint won't adhere? A lot of times, this is caused by too much silicate added to the slip before the production of the ceramic bisque.

One way that has really helped us get rid of the spots is by attacking the silicate on the bisque with an acid.

If you create a solution of 25% white vinegar and 75% water, and clean your ceramic bisque with it, you drastically decrease the chances of spots.

If anyone has any other techniques that help reduce spotting on ceramic bisque, and other possible causes of these spots, please feel free to post below!
