buckeye
So I have been using my woodburner like crazy and instead of tossing my ashes out I have been saving it. Its amazing how quick the ash pile grows and I would like to make some glaze with it. Was wondering if anyone has any good glaze recipes requiring a large amount of wood ash. Pictures of the glaze after would be great if possible.
JLowes
http://ceramicartsda...n-or-reduction/ This URL will get you one to start with and a couple of colorant subs to try. Also has a picture and fires to Cone 6, oxidation or reduction. I expect if you are looking for tan or brown you could try subbing in red iron oxide in the 2 to 5 % range to see the color response and include some test tiles with your next firing.
