AndyL
Does anybody know if there are any pottery makers that also have machine shops in our ranks? I'm curious about the costs of making parts for a home built pottery wheel.
MikeFaul
Andy, if you find someone with a CNC machine, will you message me please? Thanks, Mike
Mug
I have a metal lathe, but It will never be cheaper to make your own parts unless you have buddy that has machine equipment and will run them for free. I would find a product that exists and adapt them for your own use. If you give a little more detail about what you are working on; someone on the forum can help. JohnnyK
Hey, Andy, What kind of parts are you looking to make for your home-built wheel? Unless it's round and HAS to be turned on a lathe, you can make or adapt pretty much anything in a home shop. Attached is a pic of a kickwheel I had added a motor to to compensate for poor hand-foot coordination. You can also see a banding wheel I made from an old ceiling fan. If you need help, I may be able to make some suggestions. JohnnyK
