Hello! I recently purchased some Laguna Speckled Buff (WC-403) and have been throwing some pieces on the wheel. I have been looking for a perfect honey brown/light tan speckled clay and finally came across this one. Anyway, I made and fired some pieces with a Cone 6 cone in the kiln sitter and everything turned out kind of burned (?) looking and darker than I was expecting. I fired some more pieces but this time put a Cone 5 bar in the kiln sitter and got almost the same result My glazes also aren't showing up as well. Does anyone have any ideas of why it is coming out like this or have any advice? Thanks a bunch!

Wheel thrown in Speckled Buff. I then carved wildflowers and applied Duncan Bright Kiwi underglaze to the grass and stems. After bisque firing I glazed the inside in Laguna's Dynasty Red, the flowers in their Blackberry Wine and Peach Blush with streaks of the red. All over is clear. This is one of my very first wheel-thrown pieces. It's made with Speckled Buff from Laguna and slip trailed with white. Speckled buff and lime green leaf bowl/cup

Again, one of my first wheel-thrown pieces. Made with Speckled Buff, I painted white slip into the inside of the bowl so the color would show true, then slip trailed a design on the outside in white slip. I was not prepared for the shrinkage! I don't even want to talk about how long this took to make ... more a work of art than a production piece. But I enjoyed making it so much and this is the first piece I've ever made that came out even better than I imagined. I love everything about it (this never happens to me). I used white slip on the inside of the bowl and white engobe on the flowers so the colors would show true.
