  1. Im new to ceramics so sorry if I seem ignorant. If I were to make a solid sculpture, 2-6 inches thick, would I be able to get away without firing it? (I don’t have a kiln in my area) My idea is that I’d let it dry and then just paint it as it is. But would it be too fragile? Are there any adhesives or sprays I could use on it to keep it from breaking and make it stronger? It wouldn’t be moved around much. I'm using earthenware btw.
  2. Hey there! I am relatively new to ceramics but I have completely fallen in love with it and built myself a studio. Soooo...I don’t have much support. I’m hoping this cool community can help me out. I'm building a sculpture and I anticipate that some structural support during firing might be beneficial. Any ideas? Firebrick? Kiln shelf furniture? I see that I can purchase cone ten firerods but they are only 9 gauge which I’m just not too sure will be beefy enough. What’s the largest firerod (gauge and length) on the market? Thanks for any ideas!
