Hello all! I’ve been wanting to play with mason stains to color my cone 6 porcelain (slip casting) clay body. I eventually want to get a feel for the whole spectrum of colors and my goal is to use combinations of different stains to get unique colors. I know that you can find out which stains are tried and true on Mason Stain’s reference guide for clay bodies but I’m curious as to what stains you all would recommend to go with for starters! I’m also wondering if you guys have played with any stains that aren’t recommended for body stains but still worked and didn’t burn out.

Misty Gamble: Focus on the Face Misty Gamble will direct this two-day, hands-on ceramic sculpture workshop. Students will learn basic anatomical construction and proportion of the face, including facial features and hair. The participants will create a life size mask that operates as a vehicle for telling a story with a personal meaning. Participants will learn approaches to both academic/idealized and expressive facial construction. The focus of the workshop will not be on anatomical ‘correctness’, but rather on gesture, proportion. Misty will lead discussions on where ideas come from,
