Hi everyone! I'll start by saying I am an amateur potter and it is very possible I am not doing things correctly. I'm hoping you can help me brainstorm how to fix some issues I am running into while making slab vessels. I came across these beautiful pieces by Polly Fern, and wanted to try and recreate the shapes. I cut out all my pieces, let them get leather hard, then attached and reinforced the inside seams with coils. However, even with flipping the piece every few hours, the surface of the vessel continues to dip inwards due to the weight of the slab. I stuffed some newspaper in there, but of course it is not allowing for a perfectly flat surface. Does anyone have any ideas of how Polly might have gotten her pieces so perfectly flat? Thank you so much!
