I'm looking forward to maybe seeing some fellow Potters Council members at the Portland NCECA. I'll be at NCECA all week, some times at the NHIA (non-profit area) table, and for sure at the PC Reception. 7. Greetings fellow potters and lovers of clay! Just a quick reminder that the ClayStories event, which will be held on the evening of Thursday March 17th, during the 50th Annual NCECA conference, is still accepting applications for story tellers. If you are interested in having 5 minutes on stage to tell a story related to clay, we are interested in possibly having you be one of our speakers! In addition to the glory of telling your story in front of a room full of your pottery peers, speakers get a cool handmade ClayStories mug! Submissions will be accepted until January 21st. YIKES! Thats just one week away! If interested, please head over to claystories.org and follow the links for story submissions. We hope to see you at NCECA! Kind regards, Owen Dearing Steven Branfman NCECA 50 ClayStories Presenters
  8. Greetings fellow clay lovers, On Thursday March 17, 2016 at 8 pm, ClayStories will be presenting an evening of amazing clay stories, and we would like you to consider being one of our story tellers. Each speaker gets five minutes to tell a story about clay. It might be a story about a fantastically disastrous kiln firing, it might be a love story, it may make the audience laugh, cry, or reflect on their own experiences with clay. Whether you’ve been working with clay for a few months, or a few decades, you have a clay story. We want to give you the opportunity to tell it! Submissions are being accepted until January 21. More information, a podcast and videos of last year’s event, and the submission form can be found at our website, www.claystories.org. We wish you all the very best for the holiday season, and hope to see you at NCECA in Kansas City in a few short months! Owen Dearing & Steven Branfman Presenters, ClayStories 2016 PS We would be ever so grateful if you would forward this e-mail, post it on your Facebook or other social media outlets and/or tell your network about this event. It really is a lot of fun!
  9. Dear Clay Friends: If you had five minutes to tell a ClayStory, what story would you tell? We want to hear you tell it live, on stage, at NCECA 2015! For those of you who are planning on attending NCECA 2015 in Providence, Rhode Island, I have some exciting news to share. I'd like to ask you to join Steven Branfman and myself along with some outstanding potters for an evening of storytelling around the theme of clay. The 90 minute event is scheduled for 8 pm on Thursday, March 26, at the Omni Hotel, and takes place just before the annual Potter's Jam. A dozen or so potters will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to tell a clay story. We have created a website, http://www.claystories.org - please check out the site and consider adding your submission so that you get a chance to be one of 12 potters who will tell a story. The topic can be anything, so long as it is related to clay. Your age, gender, amount of experience with clay, etc. are irrelevant. It's all about the story! We would like to have as diverse a panel of storytellers as we can possible assemble. You can also augment your story with photographs that will be displayed on the big screen while you tell your story. Your story may be funny, it may be sad, it may be poignant, it may involve the fire department, etc.etc. Seems like any time two or more potters get together, interesting things can and do happen! I know that we are all super busy right now and don't have much time for anything else. But, no worry - the deadline for entries is Feb. 1st, 2015. We will announce the full lineup on Feb. 15. Best wishes for a safe and rewarding journey through the busy weeks leading up to the holidays! Thanks, Owen Dearing and Steven Branfman PS If you don't mind, please pass along the website link along to anyone you know who may be interested.
