From the album: Pottery
This was an experiment with frost porcelain. I am now trying to figure out how to make pendent lights and sconces. -

I have carved some floral designs onto some of my parian vases. I think they would make lovely candle holders or lamp shades. New direction possible. -

I don't make many teapots, but I had the idea for this teapot with a hollow wave cut out of the body. It was an experiment, and it's not perfect but I still really like this piece. Wheel thrown and hand built with applied engobe and underglaze, sgraffito and hand painted waves. Fired to ^6 electric.© Firenflux

This is my favorite piece I have made to date. I sold it about a year ago but haven't made another one yet. It's wheel thrown with applied colored engobes. It's hand carved and textured with pulled handles and commercial glazes. Fired to ^6 electric.© Firenflux

Inspired by visit to Jen McCurdy's studio 3 years ago. Very modest attempts at modifying a bowl in her style! Lots of time and effort into these 5" bowls.- 1 comment

This was a new take on a design I've been doing awhile. It may have spurred a new variation on several of my usual pots. I'm excited to see what comes of it. The pattern at the bottom was created with paper resist and sgraffito. After bisque fired, black underglaze was applied and wiped back, then colorful accents added to the wings. It's finished with commercial ial glazes and fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln.-

This one is fresh from my latest firing. I'm in love with this one. It's wheel thrown with a pulled handle, underglaze decoration, and hand carved texture. It's glazed in 3 different commercial glazes and fired in my electric kiln. -

That glaze in the sun .... *sigh of happiness* White stoneware, thrown on the pottery wheel, carved in a design of eucalyptus leaves in the wind. Glazed in Mayco's Stoned Denim at ^6 in an electric kiln.© Giselle No. 5 Ceramics 2016, all rights reserved

This is my very first platter or plate of any kind, although I have made a few pie plates. I actually intended this to be a pie plate but accidentally "stepped on the gas" just as I was finishing so the walls spun out almost flat. I decided it was a platter instead. I'm very happy with how this turned out. White stoneware, thrown on the pottery wheel, carved in a design of eucalyptus leaves in the wind. Glazed in Mayco's Stoned Denim at ^6 in an electric kiln. (Actually fired twice because the first time a cookie exploded and got shards everywhere.)© Giselle No. 5 Ceramics 2016, all rights reserved

White stoneware, thrown on the wheel as a "chopstick" jar and then altered into a teapot. I added the little hand-shaped flower knob. Handles coil and flattened. Spout wheel thrown. Fired at ^6 in an electric kiln. Laguna's Dynasty Red and Peach Blush, Duncan Concepts Bright Kiwi as the underglazed leaves and stems. This came out really nicely for a test set; next time everything is going to be bigger. I plan to make four cups and saucers, sugar, creamer, teapot, and a couple of serving platters. Maybe even a cake stand or two. We'll see.© Giselle No. 5 Ceramics 2016, all rights reserved
