Working with other artists is so much fun. This raised relief image is from a graphic artist called Gill Bleach. Hand made tile with raised relief image and black glaze and gilding.

This is test piece for some tribute tiles. Might rename this "what Lemmy didn't do"

This is a great project for a museum I was lucky enough to work on. They wanted a poem put onto a 8x8in tile with raised lettering so people could take rubbing from it. This was the test piece about 6x6in. The underglaze is meant to look like soot.

Another sample of raised lettering. Wanted to see how fine I could get the rext but still look sharp. This tile is 4x6in . The quote is from one of a fantastic American psychobilly band The Cramps. It inspired a set of street art tiles with spoken intros of songs.

Playing around with some raised lettering on a 6x6in tile. The saying is Liverpool slang for getting divorced. Going to be part of a set of street art. Fun to do.

My first attempt at putting portraits on clay. First image had to be Bowie. It's an ongoing process

    Gold fox

Hi Glazenerd Nothing so complex. I just glazed first then rough gold leaf around the edges then when brused back I just added the wax that didn't stick to the glaze or gold leaf. A really simple technique. With gold leaf being so cheap it's fun to play with.

Glazed, gold leaf and wax finish. Needs some work but moving in the right direction

Needs a bit of a clean up but happy I'm getting much clearer results by gilding the tile after glazing. Next step is to try gold leaf

Practicing uniformity. Not washing the underglaze back as much with these .

As advised by the forum, underglazed and washed back. Much better detail. Thanks everyone

Some glazed tiles out the kiln. Nearly there, if I brush Bach the haze a bit more on the raised design it should pop out a bit more.
  21. That's brilliant. You have a good eye and some steady hands. Top work.

Some people have asked about cutting stamps with a laser cutter. This one I've just done for someone in wood but it works just a well on flexible rubber so you can mold around curves. Cost about 10p and took 10 mins.

Old victorian block prints seem to work really well. Just etched them a little deeper so they stand out a bit more.

Laser cut test tile. Checking that fine lines stay straight.
