Almost done hanging drywall on my studio ceiling. 8 sheet done 4 to go. And singing, "all by myself". Yup, I'll be happy to wedge a ton of clay after this.

just received my newest book on Medieval pottery. I think the entire name is "A Dated Type-Series of London Medieval Pottery, Part 4: Surrey Whitewares" 1988. Its full of pictures, illustrations, and archaeological data. The last ten minutes have been great!!

Anyone have dreams about ceramics? I had one last night where I was trying to raku a complex piece and all these other people showed up and were building makeshift raku kilns out of inappropriate materials and causing great danger and making a huge mess. Makes me grateful for our safe and simple set up.

I am looking for a white slip recipe to use on a red earthenware clay body. Any suggestions?

packing for colder weather in Scotland and my Alternative firing workshop May 20-22. Sounds like we're taking the high road over the mountains and around the river Clyde. The scenery looks amazing. They have 5 raku kilns ready to go. Will post lots of photos or maybe just la link to them.

finished two raku kilns yesterday but not the flashing idea. These are oil drum kilns with 1/3 cut off. Also added a burner holder. One is a replacement for my smaller raku kiln and the other is for a friend. the flashing ended up around the grapefruit trees for protection against rates. It seems to be working.

I have had bad luck with my pots lately. Hydra exploded and the family tree vases I made for parents christmas gift look like a 10 yr olds school project.
