Cavy Fire Studios reacted to Amy Eberhardt in Qotw: Would You Laugh At Me If I Told You That I Am Using A Gg?
I view any tool that helps me to produce a better product as a godsend. Should I be laughed at for wanting to make better pieces? I think NOT! Nor should anyone else be laughed at. We use a multitude of tools in pottery. Should we laugh at the use of those tools as well? Again, I think NOT!! Any tool that helps one to produce pieces of better quality, is also a tool that brings more joy to the process of doing so. And isn't that really what pottery is all about?

I consider anyone who sneers, scoffs or laughs at me for the use of such tools to be a bit of a pottery snob. Those are the people that I have NO time or patience for.

Yes Peacock! I used it today at the college open studio on red earthenware knowing how beautiful it would come out. On low fire white clay it shows up as a coppery color.
For ^5 I'm in love with Amaco PC Ancient Jasper layering it on almost everything else.

Both of those glazes would look terrific mixed with Martian soil.

I wonder if the Admins might consider making the challenge its own section, like "In The Studio," for example! Lotsa people seem interested, so this has the potential to REALLY jam up other forum topics. It'd be a great way to keep things nice 'n tidy, not to mention easy to find!
My topic suggestion is "heritage." Like, make a piece that's about one's cultural background! We have a pretty diverse group here; could be fun!

    To answer the question...
    Um...
    Heck naw!!
I'm too shy to post videos of myself. Serious self-confidence issues... ;.; Maybe I could make a video with just my hands to show my underglaze process or something. Might help some people get started in that world..?

Tried degussa red? One part stain, four parts gerstley borate. It smells like raunchy egg farts, but gives a beautiful red with subtle visual textures, depending on thickness applied.
This was at ^03, but I've used it in ^6 before, and it totally looks the same.

Years ago, on a trip to Venice, I was dismayed by the graffiti on all of the beautiful sites ... Those gorgeous bridges were covered with spray painted words ... World heritage level buildings were covered with spray painted signs and slogans ...
Then, ( not to be political ) the whoever?? bombs ancient sites in the East to rubble.
Then some wannabe smashes a vase simply to get publicity ... Oh yeh, Yoko did it too.
So you learn to let it go.
It diminishes us as a culture, but how can you care about everything beautiful without appreciating its fragility.

I have 5 older Brent wheels-(never had a reversing switch on a Brent Wheel)
I have never had this issue on any of them and three on on the same circuit-2 on another circuit .
My usual answer for creeping is in the foot pedal adjustment of potentiometer  under bottom plate in pedal.
If this does not help I recommend a se·ance

I HATE those safety caps on pills.  My hands already hurt a lot and I have trouble opening them. I had to sign some paper to get the pharmacy to give me regular caps.  So I can sure understand how doing millions of those would make hands hurt.

I do lots of pinched forms and after a day of that my hands hurt.  I have a couple of warming gadgets that feel good on sore hands. Also paraffin bath .   rakuku

This bowl measures about 10" across and 3" tall. It's for my fella, who fancies himself a fox with corgi colors, and has a fondness for tea and coffee. ♥
Main colors are Duncan EZ and Mayco Underglaze. Blacks are Clay Art Center's baltic black A and Amaco's black velvet (watered down for shading). This is greenware, Clay Art Center's X-Tra White.
