  1. Finished four chapters, have drawn several charts and graphs. About 35% done! but have most outlines done. Took off Febuary and most of this month, have to go back shortly.

Great project...good for you! That will be a fine and useful addition to the literature for ceramics.

  3. 2nd bisque of 2019, tumble stacked planters, loaded on lunch break, working at home has it's advantages. :)

  4. Makin' pencil holders and utensil holders for the farmer's market, hope I can get them bisqued and glazed by Dec 1st... stupid "money" job interfering with my "dream" job, lol. - Mugs are ready to gomugsforfarmersmarket.jpg.c4bd6b160e03c8e4861fe2d6e9ab0622.jpg

  5. Visual Society... the next big thing!

  6. Oy. Has it really been six months since I've been on here???

  7. Aarrgghhh...we only got a few weeks notice that the guild I belong to is doing a raku demo 10/28.  I just emptied my kiln and I do not have anything low fire to fill it with,  so I could bisque (required) a few raku pieces for the event.  I'm going to try to crank out a lot of ^5 and bisque that along with the raku clay. I don't want to pass up the opportunity.

My landlord has been wonderful about allowing me to install the electric kiln (closed in back porch) & a studio (was the bedroom) in my trailer, but there is not an inch of space to spare & I'm not permitted to do anything out in the yard.  I did get my pieces done though, & will bisque this week.

Uh oh...hope the mending/recovery is not too too painful! I imagine it's actually a lot less painful than not making the art fair---bummer.  Whatta ya doin' up in an apple tree anyway? :(

  11. Made a crude throwing stick out of some black walnut, today. Needs a little more sanding, but works pretty well.  Think I'll make a few more with different shapes.

  12. Kiln is cooling under 300, but I'm going to bed now....so "Christmas " will come tomorrow morning

  13. Well, it's got nuthin to do with ceramics, but  a big black bear just helped himself to the suet cakes hanging from my car port roof. He made a crushed wire mess of my pricey squirrel proof double cake suet hanger. I've been hanging suet for 8 years w/o being visited by a big fuzzy thief.  Guess I won't be putting that out anymore. Did I mention he was big? (And beautiful-a treat to see, truth be told).

I'll have to put my bear claws clay stamps to good use so I'm not clogging up the board with off-topic stuff! I'll make more biz card holders. There were 3  last nite--very unusual--mom  & 2 cubs--got in all the trash ready for pick up.  We're a single little street at the base of a small mountain, and near a big lake. The landlord called the fish & game guys--I think they encouraged them to go back home using the scent of dogs.

The bears have been steadily losing ground to human rural development & low water tables, but it is fairly rare for them to come down from the ridge into our little mobile home park.  I hate not being able to put out the suet, but on his (or her) second foray it came up on my porch and took out the bird feeder hanging off the beam.  I hope I don't have to stop feeding the birds!

  15. Well, the kiln arrived, but it was damaged.  So after a few hours, back it went.  Guess I got more time to organize for it.:(

  16. greenware cracks

  17. Started in on my first clay toy for a small event later this summer. Not so easy, but feels great to be back in the studio.

  18. I am finally ready to get my pottery studio ready.  It has been several years in the making.  Very slow..sort of glacial.  Ordering a kiln this month.  I am excited and scared and euphoric!!

Nothing more exciting than finally pulling together one's own studio! Wait 'til the kiln arrives :)

  19. Phooey--table top slab roller is "stuttering"--all bodies, all thicknesses.  Might be a broken sprocket. I hate having to take things apart and not being able to use something until I figure out what is wrong, how to fix it, and then do it, if I can.

  20. you can lead a horse to water but...

  21. just opened the glaze firing and am blown away by the pieces. Some will be refired to enhance the look!

  22. Just sent out my first "web site is live" notice. Maybe should not have, since the store is not active yet, but everything else is done and I figured I best begin to get it "out there". Feels good! Lot of work, but i did it all myself.

  23. Still freezing.  I hate 'pages". Working on a small catalogue & things keep disappearing. Grrrrr..... #$@&^%**!!! software. And no- you tube isn't helpful so far- grrrrrrrr

Problem is the conversion from Word etc. to Pages etc.and vice-versa is not always a two-way street. It is hard to shift from one system to another when one way is virtually automatic from years of experience and the "new" one has been perversely set up to be "backwards" & everything is in weird places. I feel your pain!

  24. Falcon heavy launch, probably the best thing I have seen all year.

Envy.  As a kid, I saw a mid-'50's rocket launch from the swamp (with quicksand--I remember my aunt warning me not to go wading) directly across from Cape Canaveral. Have never forgotten the awe and majesty of that. I think about that uplifting (pun intended) experience sometimes when I am feeling really down about the idiocy/greed/hatefulness of the human species.
