I guess I will have to get a subscription to this stuff once I go production. It is just too valuable.

Welp. You can't beat 14 bucks for 180 days of awesome insight.

  2. Anyone know a good wax resist. I have been using amaco and it gunks up so much it drives me nuts. The only way it applies good is with a sponge. Is there a really good brand anyone knows about?

I'm going to be doing this soon. Have fun.

  4. Found a new glaze I like, that matches my base glaze. A deep red with speckles of black where it breaks. Also switching to frost porcelain so lots of new changes. Testing TIME!

Hah, I put the raven away. I never could figure out the bloating. Pretty sad really. I might pick it up again in the future, but for now. No ravens on my shoulder.

      Joseph Fireborn

4 of the 20 tiles came out nice. Now I need to test on bigger pieces.

  7. I'll take one of those. Couldn't find one on your etsy shop. I have been looking for a beautiful round rib for a while.
  8. Making more test tiles, I think I have started to love testing as much as throwing. Added a vase to my gallery.

bisque it to 04 then take it to cone 4 then use low fire glazes on it ? that will burn the gasses off and still give you glaze options... it might work? I dunno , im still working with it myself, its some wicked clay...

  14. I will conquer this black clay bloating problem if its the last thing I do on this earth!

Seattle Pottery claims their vashon series goes to ^6, as well as their crystal white porcelain. All of those bodies bloat like a gassed-up politician. Sooooo...either the clay's being over-fired, or your kiln might be a bit too hot. :P

    3. Joseph Fireborn

      Joseph Fireborn

Maybe, but others have stated they have fired to cone 6. I use self supporting witness cones. I am not over firing, if anything under firing. I go to about 5.5.

I will feel more magical when I get the results out of the kiln later this upcoming week. I will fire it tomorrow. I think one of them is a bit too thick. So only time will tell. But it was easier than I thought it was to mix the stuff together, at least a test batch of 400G.

    3. Marcia Selsor

lol. I made that for my niece a while back. She is big into plants vs zombies so I just looked one up and made it out of clay. Was fun. She painted it later I think.

  20. I am glaze depressed. I can't find any commercial glazes I like, and I can't seem to find a simple glaze to mix on my own = (.
