  1. It is amazing how easy it is to make good pots when your only working with 1 set of glazes. You can see the colors and things happening as you make it. Rather nice.

Nice. I plan on eventually adding more color to my work, but for now I am going to just explore these white/grey/brown tones.

I clean it every day, it takes 30 minutes of my precious time but it is totally worth it :)

I don't usually make much of a mess, but I had glaze on the floor, and clay everywhere. A good 2 hours of mopping and scrubbing everything down.

My problem is I work out there after my son's bedtime ... by the time I'm done it's 1 am and I'm too tired to clean up my mess. Then the problem builds. Clay is so messy.

  4. Finally got back into the studio today. Been a while. Spraying tomorrow.

My studio was in a small building in our back yard when my son was a baby,   they didn't have baby monitors yet but I had this weird radio system.    I would work in my studio and listen to him sleep,  when he woke I would here giggling  and playing.   I knew my time was limited.  I would start cleaning up and head on into the house about the time of the first cry.   He started walking at 8 months old so I really enjoyed listening to him and not having to follow him around the house.     Denice

My son will be walking next month for sure. He is already standing up on his own and balancing!

They're intense at that age! The work gets slower, but it still happens.

  10. I finally found the combination of glazes and schedule that was alluding me for a pot I made a while back that I really liked. I think I will be able to replicate it now on all my work, it still will take some application practices but heres hoping I am finally set on my glazes for a while. Only took 1.5 years of testing glazes to find the combination I wanted....

That moment when you go into your studio and throw away all the test mugs and cups youve been making over the last year, then realize your trashbag is to heavy to pick up out of the trash can. The sound of funky blues playing in the background and the sudden urge to throw yunomi off the hump. Life is perfect.

Mine gets horribly gritty dusty, and not from clay. It blows in from the window into the yard.

    3. Joseph Fireborn

      Joseph Fireborn

Yea. I had more leaves and pollen then dust. I open the garage during the day to get fresh air and hear the birds sing and let my dog lay on the driveway. The wind blows it all in, rather annoying.

    4. GiselleNo5

      GiselleNo5

Exactly what happens with mine! As if pottery wasn't messy enough already!

I know! I emailed him immediately, but it looks like his etsy shop is closed and his facebook hasn't been updated in a while. I am guessing maybe he is out of the business or has moved on?

I saw a lot of people on Etsy are now selling the same type of tool, but his craft was so good. Hard to accept moving on! :(

I'm guessing that the carbide broke when you dropped it...how many pieces? If you have any welding experience, you may be able to silver solder the pieces back together and grind the joints to the original cross-section. Otherwise consider taking it to someone that does have such experience...

maybe. still have a lot of work to do to find components that go with the glaze. A darker version to spray over, modifiers and fake ash glazes. but yea. the journey for a base might be near. which makes me happy tbh.

I think my work is going to go in a different direction for a while. I am interested in exploring some of the surfaces I got in my firing. Most of the pieces were poop, but there are spots on the pieces that are beautiful and very interesting.
