  1. Just peeked in my kiln full of test tiles with wood ash mixtures, pastes, and soda washes. Some very very promising results. Can't wait for the next 250F to cool so I can open that beast and spend days looking at every inch of every tile! It has been way too long since I have run a kiln load full of tiles.

I've been a nerd since I started mixing my own glazes. I fire more test tiles than actual pots haha.

It is the main reason why I love ceramics. I mean I love the peacefulness I get from creating things and the meditation it is for my body and brain, but there is nothing like opening a kiln full of beautiful infinity possibilities.

  3. working in studio between shoveling snow in front and out back. Studio is comfortable but lower temperatures are coming. 5 this morning and that was ok. -20 is cold.

  4. The forum seems slow must be the cold

  5. Folks, I will be away for about 10 days. No. . . not more hunting. . . My wife and I are going to the Southern Caribbean, on a cruise. It is our 45th anniversary, and has been planned for several months now. Also, I will not have the quiz and the question of the week this week or next week. I will be dropping in now and then til Friday, but then not certain if I will be on afterwards.

    best,

    Pres

  6. Had my first MS relapse in 10 years Saturday the whole right side of my body went numb.  My hands still work  so I can still stumble out to my studio and still work.  I guess it doesn't take too much to make me happy.   Denice

I smell most of the time unless I need to go somewhere. It's okay to be a little stinky. Showers are hard for me as well due to my skin. Just be smelly! It will be okay!

I am no doctor, but be careful on the steroids. They give you a false sense of feeling good. I have taken steroids for 5-6 months at a time for GVHD it is easy to do too much because you're just feeling so good, and its hard to sit still on them.

Glad you are feeling better. Enjoy your holidays!

  9. 25 bowls in...25 bowls out without any cracked pieces...great! Next is firing of test tiles to come up with a couple of glaze combinations for application to the new bowls. Potters Choice layering is what I'll be using...

  10. I am sure it was a long road but I am happy to have shared some of it with you. Thank you for walking along side and showing your path to me.

  22. Hi Folks, sorry I'm back. How's everyone been? Mixed bag for me the last few months while I sold/bought places to live and moved from ID to OR.  No time for clay until recently, found my motivation with renewed interest.

  23. We have close relatives who are evacuated now and do not know whether they still have a house standing. Its very bad scene now as the fires move around with the big winds.

  24. Those days when you wake up with tons of plans and do nothing. Bleh. Guess I will just work twice as hard tomorrow.
