      And hes gone again!

  2. In my non-clay world, I deal with hackers and data security...it is no contest, clay is much more fun even when it is frustrating :)

Clay is a lovely break from running after a small child. And before that I worked in Special Ed. Clay is better than that too. (I did love working with the kids though, please don't let lightning strike me!)

Glad there are people out there trying to protect us.

  3. With temps a little cool in the studio, 'tis the season for carving new stamps while propped up in front of the fireplace. :)

Same here, my studio gets a little heat from the house. It's enough to keep it from freezing. I use a electric heater that looks like a radiator for warmth.

It's freezing here. 72°. Hey how do you keep warm enough to work?

  5. I allowed someone into my studio on Christmas day...I don't do that. But I'm thinking that its going to be OK if I 'open up' a little more. Still processing that thought.

Merry Christmas Paul. I am going to shut down for several weeks: my brain hurts.

  7. Received an Etsy order just after midnight...with request to have it shipped "in the next hour'...hmmm, that would be a "No" :)

Diesel: Yep. Have had that happen many times. :( I refuse to copy anybody else's work.

  8. So much cardboard in the studio, I think I dreamed I built a huge box shack and my property taxes went up...better stop sniffing the box tape, I guess :)

I've often thought about stacking cardboard boxes filled with cardboard and making a backstop in my living room for an indoor shooting range.

  9. That moment when you back up to a loading dock and a forklift approaches with a full pallet of dry materials...and you look at your SUV and say, "Sorry, Bud" :)

    1. glazenerd

Paul, thought you knew a square pallet would not fit in a round SUV?

I say that to my PT Cruiser when they just load 200lbs of clay in it. My supplier is close by so I can run down and get clay anytime.

  10. Starting to get a feel for what a "rhythm" looks like in the balancing act of 'making and marketing'...'makes me appreciate much more those who do this full time in the clay world.

I get the heavy duty ones from Home depot. I ordered smaller shipping boxes from line or Ebay or from a local storage office.

At the auto parts store I work at, we throw hundreds of boxes away each week. The supply truck comes Tues, Thurs, and Sat.! So all week long...we throw boxes away!!!

Good luck, I hope it is what you are looking for. We built a smaller house with a studio and large garage for my husband to restore cars in 10 years ago. Loving every minute of living here.

  19. I have new Gallery images of mugs with underglaze image transfers from my CriCut Explore silkscreen tests...meander over and take a look, pls.

    1. GiselleNo5

      GiselleNo5

VERY NICE! I've been wanting a CriCut for awhile but only if I can program it with my own drawings. It would cut down on production time of some of my more elaborate patterns. How do you find it to use? Are you using preloaded images or your own?

  20. My very first gallon-sized container of underglaze arrived at the studio yesterday...this clay stuff is starting to look serious :)

  21. A full, but beautiful Fall afternoon of spraying glaze and loading the gas kiln. So nice to be able to work outside!

  22. First efforts at using CriCut for silkscreen, printing underglaze onto rice paper, and then transferring images to pots...pretty darned successful. 'Learned a lot!

    1. Roberta12

      Roberta12

Good!!! I have been wanting to try that. My friend has a Cricut, so hopefully I can trade some things for using her machine. I want to see pics.

If the rice paper fails: sprinkle some soy sauce onit: then roll some alpha sprouts inside.

The reason I took candy out of my studio: was nibbling on it instead of my nails. Nails have fewer calories.

  24. I'm just now getting on the screenprinting bandwagon for transfers...and the CriCut option for making silkscreen masks is a game changer...yep, that's all I need...another ADHD design option #smh

I haven't screen printed using stencils, but it's something I hope to do this year. I have a Silhouette Portrait. It I choose it because it integrates well with Adobe Illustrator. I use mine for stencils. And, Paul, it's only ADHD, for well, what was I talking about? hehe. Enjoy my friend. Oh, I went to YouTube University to learn how. Grajumentated tip of the glass. ;)

  25. I've been asked to make some bisque molds for chili bowls...as persnickety as I am about trimming feet, trimming the bottom completely round may put me into therapy :)
