The pangolin is endangered as it is eaten as "bush meat" in Africa and Asia. It usually suffers a slow death as it is hammered on the head. This is part of a series of sculptures depicting some animals in peril, or like the Quagga (ghost series), extinct. -

This series was created to appear to be burnt pebbles or earth forms. They are very sculptural and smooth as pebbles, then marked by raku firing. -
