Working night shift on Christmas... Good thing I brought my new John Britt book
and I now have a years subscription to ceramics monthly. -
Love it when a glaze comes out completely different than it is supposed to. Not sure if it was the different clay or I didn't apply it on the same way.

Are there any woodworkers here? Looking to get my dad a good basic book for christmas and need some help

Thanks, maybe I should go out and walk and take some pictures.
The making of the pots is good but I feel stuck with glazing. My studio is littered with test tiles xD

Walking is great for this. Gets you back inside away from the worrying.
You jsut have to keep watching...
Sounds like you are biting into a big area in your glazing posts, lots to absorb, just walk.

Taking a mental break from the chemisty then going back to the books before making more tests seems to work for me when I've hit a wall. Maybe start with 1 simple glaze that you know works and just try modifying that one.

Loading up the top loader. Just finished and then I knocked a test tile right down to the bottom... Recovered said tile after a careful balancing act removing shelves full of pots.

I need to stop trying the combo of glossy glaze over a semi-matt. They always come out rubbish no mater how many times I think it is going to work...

Crossing my fingers for a good glaze tile somewhere in the kiln. Been trying out some new ideas. 100 degrees and the lid is open

lovely! And i like the music compilation! I plan to make a pot with 'she's crafty" playing. I just suck at video editing and have no idea how to add music

I use Adobe premier pro to edit. Adding music is quite easy, you have video tracks and audio track and once you have imported in the audio to the software you just drag in into the track. I am sure most software will be a similar thing but I have not used any others. Whatever software you choose I am sure there will be many tutorials explaining how to use it.

Fired my new kiln for the first time. One glaze still looks about the same o.0 Think I also messed up the cobalt carbonate.

Sitting patiently waiting for my kiln to be delivered. And by that I mean 3 cups of coffee and me running round the studio not wanting to make any work till it gets here xD

I can't stop looking on ebay for cheap kilns. I think I have a problem... maybe. I just found a 75 litre kiln for £100! Do I travel the 200 miles to go and buy it :g

Had so many test tiles out the little kiln recently. Lots of options but nothing I am looking for. I am not even sure what I am looking for until I see it.

Feel like doing some zen practice after this night shift is over. Might have to put some clay on to recycle then go for a nap first!

I pick a shape and throw it 5 times, then another 5 with little changed to the form. After this I put them all back into the recycle and hopefully have a good idea of what form I am going to make multiples of. It didn't work out today. I made two and gave up and went onto preparing some test glazes instead.

Anybody with a Skutt wheel used the cuphead plaster batt system and is it any good?

Well I have purchased a skutt and very excited for it arriving on Wednesday :DD
Now I have a big hole where my money once was but it will be worth it when 20 years down the line it is still going strong.

Late night purchase of Kanthal A1 wire. How hard can it be to make an element?

We found the tricky part was figuring out the length to cut the wire.

Well the wire has arrived
£6 for 50m. Hopefully that will make the two elements that I need. Need some insulating fire bricks now! They are a lot more of my hard earned money
