Had a great trip to Andalusia , Spain and through Extremadura to and from Madrid. Saw many pots from where I had visited in 1980s doing research. sadly most of the traditional potters are no longer around.

I don't get to travel with my husband very often. We do have fun together.

so much nicer to fire in the winter, especially if its snowing outside & you can sit in the kiln shed with a nice cup of coffee!
-
agree totally!
-
My 6.5 top loader is custom built 3" brick and 2" fiber. Anymore I just turn it off when done firing and check it two days later.
-
Just found out I won third place in the Texas Clay Art Association's 2014 Six-pack show. It was a small foil sagger-fired pot.

I am back but having a slow time reconfiguring how the new format works and where things are located. My class went very well. Had people from Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Canada, Scotland, and US.
We were joined by 2 brasilians for our short post workshop trip to Faenza and the International Museum of Ceramic Art , studio visits and Ravenna mosaics.
I also went for a fast visit to Venice to see the Biennale. Quite a few ceramics pieces there.
-
Welcome back friend. Looking forward to new pictures. Then again, with the new forum it might take me a few days to find them.

What were they thinking?

Everything will be all right Marcia! I am so excited for you. Montana is a dream come true, isn't it?!
-
yes. And downsizing is really a good thing.
-
We did that nine years ago and I often feel like we need to do it again.
-
packing, sorting and getting ready for a garage sale. 2 trips going to the dump with AC vents that were left in the attic. Sorting through my Spanish pottery collection that I haven't unpacked in 27 years. There is a lot of things I really don't need.

Good luck with the move Marcia, after the years there I am certain it is a lot to overhall. best of luck!
-
Good luck! I know searching for a home with ceramic-friendly grounds has been fun for me. Glad you are making the move!

Hacker: "So... Who should I go after? Defense Department? Political Organizations? Big Banks? Naw, I'll go after the Potters!!!"...
-
No they weren't going after potters. This was an attack on core internet infrastructure which put hundreds of sites out of action.
-
bad boys out there! Why can't they just leave us alone....
-
Wow. Unpacking my treasures from my co-artists of the past 2 weeks. Great experience and intense friendships formed with complete strangers by our creative interaction.

with dogs and cats.
Husband is staying behind til the house sells and he retires. He'll visit as often as he can.
-
will start selling off library on Potters attic on Facebook.
I literally moved a ton of books down here 10 years ago. The ones that have not been opened in 10 years are going.
-
I hope you enjoy your last days in South Texas and make the very most of your new home.

Home from Montana. 3800+ miles round trip. Great to go back to Montana and see friends and former students . They have been waiting for us to come back for 10 years. What a great feeling!

Outside, works, but the birds get em before I do. LOL.

Monterrey, MX is 200 miles from my house in Brownsville Tx. I think it is more likely the chemicals from factories in Matamoros.
-
I think what JT said is right: you have a highly acid environment. Sulfur/ salt, and God knows what else. Time to move.
-
I couldn't agree more.
-
posted pictures from the workshop in Scotland in my gallery under its on album. I also saw some great Lucie Rie pots and a collection of bernard Leach and family pots.

yes. will be here until road trip to Montana in Aug. followed by symposium.
-
Captivated by the pictures and the background scenic beauty!!
-
It was really a beautiful location. Hard to believe Trident submarines are out in the Clyde.
-
finished two raku kilns yesterday but not the flashing idea. These are oil drum kilns with 1/3 cut off. Also added a burner holder. One is a replacement for my smaller raku kiln and the other is for a friend. the flashing ended up around the grapefruit trees for protection against rates. It seems to be working.

I love what I am doing. Very happy even with aches and pains that happen sometimes.
I am going to Kansas in 2 days for a workshop at Brackers. Then, I am going with matt to his conference in Spain in the mountains NW of Sevilla. I hope to visit a friend in Sevilla where I taught a raku workshop in 1995. Then in Nov. I go to Rome for 6 weeks for a residency, workshop and exhibition.

If you haven't left, and if you aren't in a rush, can you send me your book or dro it off. I could send you a payment via PayPal, if you have an account with them.

I can't find the pictures. I get lost in here.

Trying to get everything finished and some things possibly shipped before June 10 when I leave for Tuscany V. Since we've had no one post on the thread besides myself and Holly, I am convinced there are no members of this forum coming along.

Belts on my wheel broke while throwing. Ordered replacements. Second repair job on my 16 years old wheel. Then my clay supplier has had the phones disconnected. Next closest place is Austin 340 miles away.

will have a look. I have plenty of reptiles in my yard. cats love them. The only two ways to Austin are either cross a big fracking development with huge trucks and crazy drivers in 2 lane blacktops or go through San Antonio up the most congested interstate I always try to avoid. It is a long haul either way. Not West texas.
-
aprox. drive time on that is about 5hr 35 minutes.. give the big trucks the room they need and make sure when you pass them up you can see both headlights in your rear view mirror... I always hated to drive through Dallas, Ft. Worth, there are some idiots who must have gotten their drivers license out of a cracker jack box "prize" lol
-
Austin is about 5 1/2 Houston 6 hours. And the same part from here to Corpus is B-o-r-i-n-g..not like Montana.
-
I wish more people here posted an avatar of at least some image rather than ghost heads. Bizarre names and no info in their "about me" diminishes the community spirit of the forum. Couldn't someone say I am interested in this or that.

I think it's more of a case of,not knowing how to do it.
-
I don't know about that. And the bizarre names are very weird.

I had a avatar but it was lost when they changed the forum a while back. To busy to mess with it again. Denice
