  2. Raku

I have been making raku slabs since the early 1980s. In the Spring day I was driving by a herd of Black Angus on Spring green pastures. I instantly responded RAKU! I had a class in the Pryor Mountains (Horse Whisperer) and we were surrounded by a herd of wild horses that appeared out of a cloud. It was magic! I make horses too. Now I am seeing lots of exotic Birds.

  3. My Studio, marciaselsorstudio.com

I moved from Montana to Brownsville, Texas in 2006 and established this studio by 2007. I built my dream raku kiln and bought 2 new electric kilns. I spent several years researching ^6 oxidation glaze development while continuing to do saggar and raku firings. Recently focusing on Alternative Firing Techniques using 2 raku kilns for the past three years.

  7. More wood firings

I recently participated in a wood firing at the red lodge Clay center #rlcc,
using the train kiln fired to ^12 and firing down in reduction for several hours to about 1900 F. I used several glazes and flashing slips as well as Helmar porcelain, Coleman porcelain, Babu porcelain and Death valley clay-a heavy iron bearing clay. I am very happy with the results.

  13. Pots seen during travels in Spain

Recent trip to Andalusia and Extremadura .in Western Spain. I saw many pots originating in locations I had visited during my Fulbright research in 1985-86. Sadly many of these locations no longer have traditional potters. Spain's entry into the European Common Market, severely effected the production of traditional Spanish handmade pottery. It has all but disappeared.

  18. paper clay home made mixer

this tools are used for making paper clay from trimming scrap clay.
The clay trimmings are dried and stored until ready to mix. They are slaked in water overnight. I fill the mixer about 1/2 way. The dried paper pulp balls are soaked overnight, and added to the solution. The mix is dried onto plaster slabs and used or dried until needed. Drying the slabs prevents it from molding.

  23. My Top Five Potters

These are five potters who have influenced my tastes in ceramics from one time or another. The idea to list and review these came from a similar post on Clayart to list your top ten of all time.
