glazenerd 1,629 Posted December 28, 2016 Report Some talc, some dolomite , perhaps a pinch of cobalt carb to make it break purple? Interesting indeed. Enough lithium to make it flow; but not too much. Quote Link to comment
1515art 251 Posted December 28, 2016 Report I really like it...very interesting and perfect flow. Used .60 percent mag carb will try Cobalt next test, thought I had some but could not find it. Quote Link to comment
glazenerd 1,629 Posted December 28, 2016 Report Cut the mag. carb to 0.30%,. After I saw the forms you were making, had to share one of my private glaze recipes. Turned out very well, Go very easy on the cobalt carb...just a pinch. Quote Link to comment
dhPotter 431 Posted December 28, 2016 Report The look of this glaze reminds me of teadust glaze. It is very beautiful. Quote Link to comment
Joseph Fireborn 1,347 Posted December 28, 2016 Report Is the black part transparent when you shine a light directly on it? Or does it turn a brownish gold? Quote Link to comment
1515art 251 Posted December 29, 2016 Report dh, thank you, it's a beautiful glaze by a talented ceramicist wish I could take credit. Joseph, it is much as you see...the dark areas are a deep rich Mahognay. The clay body is cinnamon brown very high in iron. Quote Link to comment
glazenerd 1,629 Posted December 29, 2016 Report It is the titanium in the clay producing the purple band. Where high iron is, titanium is sure to follow Quote Link to comment
