White Rhinocerous Conga Drum
A conga-style drum, half a meter in height, mixed raku glazes (Ferguson's White crackle, Soldner's turquoise, and Higby Lime Green). Fired to 1850 degrees. Horsehide drum-head pegged on with rivets.
This piece is part of a larger series in which I'm building indigenous musical instruments from countries with critically endangered species- drawing from Douglas Adams' book 'Last Chance to See'. I've posted a lengthier discussion at Last Chance to See.
